Circle of Security Parenting

Parenting can sometimes leave us feeling uncertain and unsure of what our child truly needs. The Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) program, built on decades of research, helps parents and caregivers strengthen secure parent-child relationships by offering guidance in understanding and meeting emotional needs.

This program shows you how to

  • Build on your ability to read your child’s needs and understand their emotional world

  • Enhance your interactions with your child

  • Support your child’s ability to successfully manage and cope with their emotions

  • Foster the development of your child's self esteem

  • Respond more thoughtfully to your child's behaviour

Research on secure attachment indicates that children that form this attachment with their primary caregiver

develop more resilience

have higher self-esteem

develop better social and problem-solving skills

Research shows that the COSP program helps mothers of neurodivergent children feel more confident in their parenting, improves their mental well-being, and reduces the stress they experience around their child’s behaviours.

This attachment-based approach has been proven to support parents in building stronger, more secure relationships with their children.

This program is based on enhancing strengths.
The COS is non-judgmental and helps parents find their inner strengths to deal effectively with their children.

This program is for parents who want to

  • Understand more about their own attachment patterns

  • Parent differently from the way they were parented

  • Develop their parenting strengths and improve areas of challenge

  • Develop a common framework with their co-parent and improve consistency

  • Increase their confidence in their ability to parent effectively

  • Build a strong connection with their child that stands the test of time

These groups are not a good fit for parents who
  • Are not attending willingly and with an open mind (e.g. mandated to attend against their wishes by legal proceedings or coerced by a partner)

  • Do not wish to reflect on their parenting or their relationship with their child

  • Are looking for ‘quick fixes’ or methods that prioritise compliant behaviour over children’s emotional wellbeing

  • Do not respect privacy or the confidential nature of group programs

Hi, I’m Xiu Ching, a speech pathologist with additional training in youth mental health. I’ve spent years working closely with children and families, helping parents navigate challenges and build stronger, more connected relationships with their kids through enhancing their communication.

I’m passionate about supporting parents in understanding their child’s emotional needs and strengthening their bond and am certified in multiple parent training programs including COSP.

In this group, my role is to guide, support, and create a safe space for reflection and learning. Circle of Security Parenting isn’t about being a “perfect” parent—it’s about understanding your child’s emotional world, responding with confidence, and strengthening your connection.

I look forward to supporting you on this journey!
